Investing in our Planet!

Climate Change is the hot focus of many youths today and we too decided to leverage this to continue our outreach for youth development in our societies!
Earth Day (April 22 nd ) is widely recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by
more than a billion people every year as a day of action. Thanks largely to the momentum created by Earth Day, the early 1970s saw the passage of many important environmental legislations, including the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts as well as the signing of the Paris Agreement.
Earth Day was celebrated under the theme: “Invest In Our Planet”, which sought to intrigue individuals to perform actions that would seek to bring together all sectors in an innovative way to help us chart a way toward a greener future. The event this year was executed in collaboration with the Caribbean Youth Environmental Network (CYEN) SVG Chapter, Rotary Club of Kingstown, CARICOM Youth Ambassadors (CYA), and the Richmond Vale Academy.
Highlights of the activity included a Climate Poster Competition that was open for individuals and a Banner Competition for Secondary Schools that was won by the St. Vincent Girl’s High School.
The winners of the Poster competition were:
- Ricardo (RVA) 1st Place
- Anicka Jackson (GHS) 2nd Place
- Sheni (RVA) 3rd Place
JCI St. Vincent would like to express gratitude to all its partners, sponsors, community members, and attendees for ensuring that the event was a successful one.
